01What VentMode does
VentMode is an independent, third-party automation service that connects to your Tesla vehicle through Tesla's official API and can open (vent) or close your windows based on weather conditions, time of day, and vehicle state. VentMode is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc. "Tesla" is a trademark of Tesla, Inc.
The service works by monitoring conditions on a schedule and issuing window commands to your vehicle. It depends on third-party systems — including Tesla's API, weather data providers, cloud hosting, and network connectivity — that VentMode does not control and cannot guarantee.
02Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old and the owner or authorized user of the Tesla vehicle you connect. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You authorize VentMode to access your vehicle only through Tesla's official authorization flow, which you can revoke at any time from your Tesla account.
03Use at your own risk
VENTMODE IS PROVIDED ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. Automating your vehicle's windows carries inherent risks, and you accept those risks by using the service. You are solely responsible for deciding whether automated window venting is appropriate for your vehicle, your location, and your circumstances.
In particular, and without limiting the general disclaimer below, you understand and agree that VentMode is NOT responsible or liable for any of the following, whether or not the windows were open due to VentMode:
- Water damage or interior damage from rain, snow, sprinklers, car washes, humidity, or any other moisture — including cases where VentMode failed to close, or was late to close, your windows before precipitation.
- Theft, break-ins, vandalism, or loss of any items from the vehicle, or damage to the vehicle, occurring while the windows were vented or at any other time.
- Damage to the vehicle's interior, electronics, upholstery, or components from heat, cold, sun, debris, insects, animals, or environmental exposure.
- Injury to any person or animal, including entry into or interference with the vehicle through an open window.
- Battery drain, wear, or any effect on the vehicle's range, components, or warranty resulting from commands sent to the vehicle.
- Any failure of the windows to open or close as expected, at the expected time, or at all — including due to outages, delays, bugs, or conditions outside VentMode's control.
04No warranty
VENTMODE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VENTMODE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
VentMode does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, accurate, or error-free, that weather data or vehicle state will be correct, or that any window command will succeed. Automated actions may be delayed, skipped, or fail entirely for reasons including third-party API changes or outages, weather-data errors, connectivity problems, vehicle state, and software defects.
05Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VENTMODE AND ITS OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE — INCLUDING ANY DAMAGE TO OR LOSS OF YOUR VEHICLE OR ITS CONTENTS.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE TOTAL LIABILITY OF VENTMODE AND ITS OPERATOR FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID VENTMODE IN THE THREE (3) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) TWENTY U.S. DOLLARS ($20). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THESE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
06Your responsibilities
You agree to use VentMode lawfully and to make your own judgment about when automated venting is safe. You should not rely on VentMode as your only protection against weather, theft, or heat, and you remain responsible for securing your vehicle and its contents. You are responsible for reviewing your dashboard and settings and for pausing or disconnecting automation whenever you choose.
07Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless VentMode and its operator from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or damage or loss to your vehicle, its contents, or any person or property in connection with the service.
08Subscriptions and billing
VentMode is offered as a paid subscription, which may include a free trial. Payments are processed by Stripe; VentMode does not store your full card details. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.
09Suspension and termination
You may stop using VentMode and disconnect your vehicle at any time. VentMode may suspend or terminate the service, or your access to it, at any time — including if a third-party dependency (such as Tesla's API) changes or becomes unavailable, or if you violate these Terms.
10Changes to these Terms
VentMode may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which VentMode's operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer-protection laws that cannot be waived by agreement.
